THE SANDSTONE MAUSOLEUM GWALIOR
The sandstone mausoleum of the Afghan prince, Ghaus Mohammed, is also designed on early Mughal lines. Particularly exquisite are the screens which use the pierced stone technique as delicate as lace. It is on the way to Gwalior fort near Hazira from Railway Station. Sufi saint Mohammed Ghaus's monumental tomb was built by Akbar and is a massive sandstone structure with rising towers on the four corners, crowned by cupolas and a huge central dome. The outer walls are made of exquisite cut stone grilles.
TOMB OF TANSEN, GWALIOR
Tomb of Tansen, Gwalior Walk a few steps from the Tomb of Muhammad Ghaus, and you will see a smaller, simpler memorial of Tansen. He was the renowned singer in Atigrkbar’s kingdom and the father of Indian classical music. A national-level music festival is organized every year at his tomb in November-December.

TIGRA DAM, GWALIOR
This scenic dam is one of the best picnic spots near Gwalior and a great option for a relaxing day out with friends or family. BATESHWAR TEMPLE, GWALIOR

A group of more than 200 temples excavated and restored by the ASI are truly a hidden treasure waiting to be explored. Built in yellow sandstone by the Gurjara-Pratiharas across the sloping hills of Bateshwar, most of the temples are dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu or Shakti. Named after the Bhuteshwar temple, the largest Shiva shrine at the site, Bateshwar structures display an interesting amalgamation of several different temple building styles. The nearby sites of Mitawali and Padawali are also not to be missed for some more incredible heritage structures.

BIR SINGH PALACE GWALIOR
